Body Scan Guided Meditation for Teens and Young Adults

Learn more about anxiety therapy in St. Louis, MO

Guided meditation is a huge component of the anxiety therapy we provide at Compassionate Counseling St. Louis, because we know that when you have anxiety, you have a lot of internal stress. Stress makes our bodies TENSE. Stress primes us to have a fight/flight/freeze reaction (or really TBH an OVER reaction) to the small external stressors around us.

If you ever find yourself exploding at things that are actually pretty small problems, or find yourself wanting to hit, punch, or kick things when you’re overwhelmed, this meditation is for you.

We all hold tension in our bodies and in our muscles. Sometimes, we’re not even all the way aware of it. That tension level and slowly build up during the day, and then all of a sudden we realize we’re right at the edge of our window of tolerance. All it would take is one more small amount of stress, and we’d overflow our explosion point.

The best way to deal with these sneaky levels of stress and tension is to incorporate tension releasing exercises throughout your day.

Use some Progressive Muscle Relaxation, heart and belly breathing, or guided meditation to proactively managing your anxiety levels.

Guided Meditation and Body Scan for Anxiety

One of my favorite meditations for tension releasing is the body scan meditation. Listen below for a quick tutorial, and give it a go:

Guided meditation will help a ton with your anxiety.

But if you need more than a meditation, you might want to consider starting anxiety counseling.

Anxiety counseling will help you dig into what’s really going on underneath the surface, teach you tons of coping skills and strategies, and help you move forward with anxiety instead of feeling like your anxiety and stress are holding you back.
