Anxiety and Anger Management for Kids,Teens, and College Students
Kelsey Torgerson Dunn, MSW, LCSW
Owner and Anxiety Specialist
Whether your child needs anger management skills or your teen just needs to talk, I can help.
I'm Kelsey Torgerson Dunn, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Feedback Informed Treatment. I specialize in trauma-informed anxiety and anger management strategies, and I work with kids and teens from age 4 through college to build coping and self-regulation skills.
What is working with me like?
Clients tell me that I'm calm, compassionate (thank goodness since I'd already chosen my business name!), and centered. I tailor my approach to your needs, and I always make an effort to understand where you and your child are coming from. I want to see the whole picture, so that you can see real change at home and at school.
Research has proven that the most effective tool in counseling (and the best predictor of change) is feeling heard and understood by your counselor. I work to build that connection in my office and create a lasting change.
Sometimes, this can take a little bit.
Some people come to me looking for a quick fix or just one fast-and-easy tool to use. While I'm more than happy to make suggestions, I also know that therapy is an ongoing process. Through counseling, we will build relaxation, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. Time is needed for you or your child to get to a deeper understanding of the why and how of what they're doing, and to actually apply the skills they learn through counseling in real life.

Collaborative work with families and schools.
Sometimes you look at your kid and wonder: “Why are they doing what they are doing?” “Why won’t they just listen?” “Is this every going to get better?”
I get it.
I have been fascinated by human behavior my entire life. I love figuring out what makes people tick. So as a therapist, my passion is getting to know your unique situation. I don’t want to just understand what ‘s happening and why. I want to work with you to make the change that allows you and your family to have the life, time, and connections you desire.
A little bit about my background:
I have worked with very young children through high school-aged teens, and currently spend four days per week at a middle school and one day per week at the early childhood center. I have had extensive training around trauma responsiveness and approaches, including TF-CBT. I believe that assessing and understanding trauma history, as well as developmental and attachment history, best help to shape interventions and approaches when working with children and teenagers.
The ultimate goal is building rapport and opening communication between you and your child.
I enjoy getting to know people and building rapport, and creating a safe space for people to share honestly. I am a compassionate person, and I hope that my valuing each person as an individual with their own story and experience, clearly shows.
