Virtual therapist for teens and adults in St. Louis, MO

When you’re a teen or young adult with anxiety and a complicated relationship with food, it’s so easy to push everyone else away.

A lot of us can get really fixated on being perfect: having perfect grades, being a perfect son or daughter, and having a perfect body. On paper, things look really great, but really, you’re hiding the vulnerable emotions happening underneath the surface.

Perfect doesn’t exist!

Instead, this idea of “perfection” is a way for our anxiety to take over and try and control everything around us. That control leads us to pulling all-nighters instead of turning in the good enough paper, or restricting our food instead of having a healthy relationship with eating. Anxiety to perfectionism to over-control is an addictive cycle, and one we need to break.

Through our work together, you get to bring voice to your vulnerable emotions, break the cycle of perfectionism, and learn how to directly communicate your needs with others - even when it feels super uncomfortable.

I really focus on that during therapy with you. I hope to support each human with a nice big exhale after discussing the tough stuff, and I love helping people give voice to the things they wish to overcome!

The most important part of any counseling journey is feeling heard, understood, and respected, no matter what you’re experiencing.

If we have to talk about vulnerable stuff, like food, anxiety, not being good enough, and your relationship with others, we need to build up OUR therapeutic relationships, too. Trust in sessions is such a key part of our work together. I never want you to feel called out - I want you to feel heard, and I want you to feel challenged when you fall into the same pattern you’ve complained about again and again.
