The Magic of Our Child and Adolescent Anxiety Therapy Team

It’s so important to find the right clinical therapy fit for you and your child.

And with our therapists, when we come together as a team, we help to make sure you’re getting the best help possible. All of our therapists have their own individual clinical backgrounds and experience, but they also have the specialized training as team in how to best work with anxiety and anger management in kids, teens, and college students.

What makes Compassionate Counseling St. Louis special? All of our therapists understand that anger and anxiety serve a purpose.

Our team would never call anxiety or anger bad. We may not like how it feels, or our reactions that we have may be unhelpful, but we always want to figure out how to move forward with anxiety and anger, and how to help it not feel so big.

The Compassionate Counseling St. Louis touch:

When you’re working with any of our therapists, they’re going to bring their personal expertise to your situation, but there are a few things you’re guaranteed to get, no matter who you work with:

  • A specialized plan for you

  • Data to help make sure that we’re actually making progress in therapy

  • A calm, clear therapist who is on your side

  • Feedback informed treatment, meaning your therapist is always open to criticism, answering concerns, and tailoring their approach to you

  • Research-backed treatment for anxiety and anger management

  • Ongoing clinical supervision with owner Kelsey Torgerson Dunn, MSW, LCSW to make sure we’re not missing anything

Allegra Grawer - MSW, LCSW, EMDR Basic Level 1 and 2 Trained

EMDR Therapy for Anxiety and Attachment with Kids, Teens, and College Students

Allegra specializes in anxiety work with kids, teens, and college students. She has worked for over 20 years as a social worker, and spends time both at Compassionate Counseling St. Louis and as an in-school social worker at University City.

In addition to being an awesome resource for parents and kids, Allegra is trained in EMDR for kids and teens, and loves to integrate this type of deep work into the anxiety and anger management therapy she provides.

“ I wish people knew how common anxiety is, and that they can start to feel better pretty quickly. I love working with different types of clients - all ages - who are coming to therapy for many different reasons. My job is never boring! I get great joy out of seeing clients improve and feel better, and when they leave therapy in a better place than when they started.”

Susie McGaughey

Art Therapy for Anger Management with Anxious Kids and Teens

Susie is an art therapist with experience working in behavioral schools. She loves to help kids and teens build up their understanding of what’s going on, internally and externally, with them - helping them solve problems in their lives while also helping them to deepen their understanding of their feelings, behaviors, and thoughts.

“ I want parents to feel just as supported as my clients. Part of me really enjoys working with clients who are more resistant to therapy. For some, the thought of beginning therapy can be really scary and intimidating. I enjoy being part of the process that helps clients feel safe and supported in stepping outside their comfort zone to begin to overcome some of their struggles.”

Quality therapy, no matter what.
