Why did you choose to become a counselor in St. Louis?

I have always loved working with kids. To be able to play and work with kids each day is a dream job!

What kind of treatment do you provide?

I provide individual play therapy and family therapy as well as support for parents.

What ages do you work with?

I see infants through 10-years-old.

What can parents expect to leave with after working with you?

I want parents to feel more reassured and empowered in their parenting. Parenting is a super hard job. Parents are not told often enough how what they are doing for thier kids is making a real difference - and that they don't need to be perfect!

Who are your favorite types of clients to work with?

I especially enjoy supporting families with infants, toddlers and early childhood kids. I also enjoy working with parents.

How do you decide if play therapy is a good fit for the kids you work with?

I meet first with the parents. Parents are the experts on their kids. I want to hear from them their concerns and how we can work as a team to help their child. From there we make a treatment plan and decide how best to support their child and family.

Could you talk a little about your approach and how it plays into your work with kids experiencing anxiety?

Play therapy provides a safe way for kids to share their feelings and experiences and learn new ways to cope. Talking directly about what makes a child anxious can sometimes just increase their anxiety.

Depending on the age of the child, we work on understanding how our bodies experience anxiety and ways to calm and cope.

What do you wish people knew about going to counseling?

Counseling is for anyone who wants a safe space to be seen and heard. For kids who don't have much control over their world, counseling offers a place for them to make choices and build confidence as well.

How can people learn more and contact you?

Share one fun fact about you that most people don’t know.

I have a puppy named Hank. He's a mini golden doodle, and I'm hoping to train him to be a therapy dog!
